He used food because he was asked to do food advertisements. Would you make such works for advertisement too or for art? Why?

 

Carl Werner is indeed famous for his food art. He uses the vegetables to show every detail of a natural background. He is really creative in showing a different side of the vegetable but I wouldn't make such work for advertisement nor art.

I won't create something similar to this because first, ever since I was little, I was told not to play with food, which also includes not to do anything with the food so as a result, I have never even once thought about this idea; the purpose of the food is for us to eat, not to be played around with. If my mother saw me making this, she might tear me into pieces.

 

        

 

-If you had to make one with a symbolic meaning, what would it be? Why?

 

if i had to made one with a symbolic meaning, i would make a seasonal art with the fruits and vegetables that grows on that season. Carl Werner has made plenty of arts with lots of food and vegetables but somehow for me, his art doesn't really have any meaning or teaching. So by doing that, not only people will know what's the best season to pick, it will also give us knowledge of the season as well.

I will make a maple tree out of autum vegetables. the leaves can be maple leaf shaped carrots, radishes, beet greens and pumkin and the tree can be black futsu.
