JOHN FEKNER ARTIST MOMENT

Questions

John Fekner's works are supposed to target buildings that are no longer taken care of by the government. Is his works justified then? Even though it too can be see as damage to public property?

John Fekner is a street and a multimedia artist who created many enviromental and political work using stenciled words. His work was usually done in abandoned buildings; some says that he is damaging public property but some others say that doing stencil work in a abandoned building is a justified action ( since its going to be demolished anyway). For me, doing his work on a abandoned building is a justified action. First, like everybody say, he did in a building where nobody lives in and its abandoned. I don't get why people call this damaging public property when nobody is the victim.Second, not only it was done in a harmless place, his art also had meaning to it. In this photo, he showed about the enviromental disaster we have right now, and its not really a sin to remind people that this situation might actaully happen if we leave it be.

Do you think his arts', such as XAMERICANX, messages are shown clearly or is it difficult to understand.

I think his arts, such as XAMERICANX, messages are shown clealy. I think its meaning is clear because his photo are very detailed but also very notable to the theme he chosed, Example, in the XAMERICANX he showed a pitch-black lake showing th pollution on the water and a harsh weather due to enviromental changes. All of the little things he chose to pain is acutally telling viewers about the theme of his art and notifying that it is a serious situation.
