Historical Background

- Roxy is the women's version of Quicksilver and it was first originated from Quicksilver

- Was launched in 1990

- It was launched when Quicksilver promoted women's swimwear

- 30% of Quicksilver’s sales comes from Roxy

-differentiated from "Quicksilver" for the fear that it would damage the men's brand.

- the name  Roxy was chosen because it sounded like a punk band or club

-  Alan Green and John Law

 

Why?

- to expand their line in women's surfwear

 

Who designed the logo?

- The logo was designed in 1993 by Alan Green and John Law, who were the founders of Quicksilver. It was influenced by the Quicksilver logo which they designed first.

- The Roxy logo is attractive and makes people curious about the brand

- The logo is soft and simple, it was specifically designed for women

- The heart shape of the logo creates the feeling of affection, compassion and love

-The Roxy logo in fact is a combination of the Quicksilver logo facing each other

 

Outside Influence

-  It was inspired by a Japanese painter, Hokusai’s woodcut (The Great Wave off Kanagawa).

Which products?

- It is an Australian brand that sells sport goods and apparel, such as swimwear and surf boards. It is also one of the largest manufacturers of surfwear
